Week 10
In lab this week, a school to wild representative went over the different options and lessons. We then took a quiz on what a rock is. Then we jumped into the topic of assessments. Ted talked about how grades DO NOT matter. The Vietnam War draft led to a jump in A grades. Going to college let young students dodge the draft. We then were allowed to create the space test curve at our tables.
What are the layers of the Earth:
- crust, mantle, outer core, inner core
- Sedimentary, igneous, metamorphic
The reading this week was "Teaching for Conceptual Change: Confronting Children's Experience". The main message that I took was that changing student conceptions/misconceptions does not happen overnight. It is like the construction of a building.
