Week 9

In lab this week we began our discussion of geology. We talked about the history of it being taught in high school and why it is deemed as an uninteresting science. To avoid this Ted says we need to teach geology as a story. History and geology can go hand in hand. We looked at the 2012 presidential election photo of the south and how an obsidian rock allowed track of Native American trade.

We build a timeline around the room of the universe. We used sticky notes to guess 5 major events of our universe. Using Earth Viewer afterwards, we explored the Earth back in time. It was crazy to see! As table groups we found 5 interesting events to add to the wall timeline and share with the class.

In lecture this week we took our space exam!!

This week's reading was "Activitymania" discussing the difference in using activities to teach science versus inquiry. I only remember science being taught through cookie cutter activities in my school experience. It was a very worth while read.
